In Nashville Soccer

NASHVILLE – Nashville SC will host Inter Miami CF in its first Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoff match Friday (8 p.m., CT) at Nissan Stadium.

The action will be televised nationally on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes, and broadcast locally on ESPN 102.5 The Game and ESPN 94.9 for English radio and El Jefe in Spanish.

Nashville SC enters Friday’s playoff match after a historic expansion season in Major League Soccer that saw the Boys in Gold become the fourth MLS team in modern era to clinch a spot in the playoffs. Nashville SC finished the season with an 8W-7L-8D record, with 32 points and 1.39 points per game, becoming the fifth expansion team to earn such high numbers in the history of the league. Nashville earned a result in 16 of 21 matches since returning to play on Aug. 12 which concluded in a thrilling 3-2 come-from-behind victory at Orlando City SC with goals in the 88th and 93rd minutes from Hany Mukhtar and Jhonder Cádiz.

The Boys in Gold made Nissan Stadium a fortress during the regular season (4W-2L-5D record) with one lone defeat since returning to play on Aug. 12. A key member of Nashville’s success in 2020 has been center back Walker Zimmerman, who on Wednesday morning was awarded the 2020 MLS Defender of the Year. Zimmerman helped guide Nashville SC to this historic year, posing a goals against average of 0.96 goals per game, the best of any expansion club in league history, and tying for the league-lead with nine clean sheets this season.

Nashville SC yesterday released an additional 1,500 tickets for the club’s first ever Audi MLS Cup Playoff match. The additional tickets became available after the cancellation of the Nashville Rock N’ Roll Marathon Health and Fitness Expo and approval from Nissan Stadium. More information can be found here.
